This outdated early 80's Minneapolis suburb bathroom was in desperate need of an upgrade. We started with a complete demo of the entire bathroom down to the studs including removing the old tile bath surround, metal tub, toilet, dated vanity with tile backsplash, moldy sliding doors and soiled carpet flooring.
The reconstruction process started with roughing in updated PEX pipe plumbing, putting down new sub flooring and adding additional wall insulation. Next we had to retro fit the ceiling exhaust fan, rough in a new wall medicine cabinet and install a new white Bootz porcelain bathtub. The tile tub surround was prepared with Durock wall Cement Board and standard tile thinset to welcome the new Marizzi 3"x 2" white porcelain subway tiles finished with POLYBLEND Delorean Grey grout. All walls and ceilings were patched, textured with Honax Wall Orange and freshly painted using Behr Premium Plus Ultra paints. The new white vanity was measured and ordered to fit directly from the Lowes VILLLA Bath collection and topped with a St Paul white cascade finish with undermount rectangular sink.
Lastly the new fax wood xxx flooring was laid using XXX glue for a wonderful dark wood flooring look and caped with all new white painted trim and updated electrical switches and sockets. and and place Durock wall backing around the tub. Mohn facet and shower xxx, a three (3) xx lighting from Lowe’s and LED lighting throughout.
This was an extremely rewarding project as the bathroom was almost unusable for the new family that had recently purchased this home. With having small children and a history of allergies to mold, this was a high priority project for being attentive to detail every step of the way.
